PEACEful Security Guard

© 2ß15, Carl Weese

Carl schreibt zu seinem Projektbeitrag:

"This young woman was standing security duty at a wonderful exhibit of paintings by Jervis McEntee, on display at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art on the campus of the State University of New York at New Paltz. He is one of the Hudson River School painters who is, from what we saw at this exhibit, unjustly less well known than some of his mentors and contemporaries. I approached her to ask if I could photograph her with the peace sign earring. When she looked a little skeptical I explained that my friend in Germany publishes pictures of peace signs by his photographer friends on a blog that’s seen around the world. She happily agreed. She was standing in front of a frosted window and something about the very strange lighting is exactly why I spotted the peace earring from all the way across the large gallery room. I tried to retain that sense, working on the RAW file. Bettina and I were celebrating our own 9/11 anniversary, 44 years married, and I was happy to find a Peace Project picture to make on this particular day."
